R9 R7 - What's the Difference?
While both Residence R9 and R7 windows are part of the premium Residence Collection, they cater to slightly different aesthetics and property types.
R9
Residence 9 (R9) windows are designed to authentically replicate 19th-century timber window styles, making them ideal for heritage properties, conservation areas, and period homes. They feature deep decorative detailing, traditional sightlines, and mechanically joined frames for an unmistakably classic appearance. R9 windows are typically chosen where strict planning regulations or a faithful timber replica is required.
R7
Residence 7 (R7), on the other hand, offers a more contemporary take on traditional flush sash design. Though still heritage-inspired, R7 has a cleaner, more minimal look with fully welded frames and equal glass sightlines, making it versatile enough for modern new builds as well as characterful renovations. It’s also slimmer and more streamlined than R9, with a slightly shallower 75mm frame depth compared to R9’s 100mm, making it suitable for a wider range of installations. In essence, R9 is all about traditional authenticity, while R7 blends timeless style with modern performance and flexibility.
